Why Raheem Sterling rose above the bile: Winger could have baulked at transfer after being racially abused at Chelsea while he was a Manchester City player but he is bigger and better than that

There is no doubt about the kind of reception Raheem Sterling will receive from Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

‘He is going to get a great one,’ said Chelsea Supporters’ Trust board member Dan Silver. ‘He is 27, a brilliant footballer in his prime, a winner who has had unparalleled success at Manchester City and he is going to be a great signing.

‘He is also a fantastic role model not just for football but society. It is great we have got someone of his calibre coming in. I’m very excited to see him pull on a Chelsea shirt.
