The FA want Sven-Goran Eriksson to be their guest of honour for Brazil friendly after cancer diagnosis, while Brentford scour the lower leagues in search of the next Ivan Toney - AHEAD OF THE GAME

The FA have invited Sven-Goran Eriksson to England's friendly international against Brazil in March following his revelation that he is suffering from terminal cancer.

The former England manager left the football world shocked and saddened earlier this month by disclosing that he may only have months to live after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Eriksson led England in their World Cup second-round defeat to Brazil in Japan in 2002, which was memorably settled by Ronaldinho chipping David Seaman with an audacious free-kick.

The Swede has yet to respond to the invitation, but the FA are hopeful that Eriksson will attend Brazil's visit to Wembley as guest of honour if he is fit enough to travel.
