Nick Candy says Chelsea 'needs to be in safe hands' and fans should own part of the club, as the billionaire and boyhood supporter reveals why he wants to buy the stricken Blues

British billionaire Nick Candy has said he will give Chelsea fans a seat on the club's board if he buys the Premier League giants from Roman Abramovich.

The property developer - who says he has been a supporter of Chelsea since he was four years old - is in talks with financiers about joining his bid ahead of a deadline for offers at the end of this week.

Candy says he wants to buy Chelsea because he 'loves' the club and feels he has a close connection with the Premier League giants after his father was 'asked to play' for the Blues.
