Callum Wilson is expected to be sidelined until the end of December at Newcastle's injury crisis mounts ahead of a busy run of fixtures.
Wilson was substituted at half-time of Newcastle's 2-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League last week.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe revealed Wilson had been suffering from a 'tight hamstring'.
The injury ruled Wilson out of featuring in Newcastle's 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday, with the striker also forced to withdraw from the England squad.
Howe had claimed Wilson could miss a 'number of weeks', with the forward having since had a scan to assess the issue.
