Mason Mount's hopes of a return to the England squad have been boosted by a call out of the blue from his old boss Thomas Tuchel.
Mount played some of the best football of his career under Tuchel at Chelsea, and set up the winning goal for Kai Havertz when they won the Champions League together in 2021 with victory over Manchester City in Porto.
While Tuchel told Mount in a recent video call that there are no guarantees their past success will win him an England recall after more than two-and-a-half years off the international scene, the 26-year-old Manchester United star was delighted that the Three Lions coach is keeping him in mind with next year’s World Cup on the horizon and qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia coming up in early September.
