Mason Mount apologises to Chelsea boss Frank Lampard after being spotted in kick-about with Declan Rice outside of coronavirus isolation

Mason Mount has apologised to manager Frank Lampard after being spotted playing football in public with Declan Rice while he was supposed to be in self-isolation due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Chelsea announced their players would be following government guidelines and self-isolating after Mount’s teammate Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive for the condition last week.

Midfielder Mount, though, was seen enjoying a kick-about with West Ham star and his best mate Declan Rice at Trent Park Football centre, near Barnet on Sunday.

Most of Chelsea’s first-team squad and staff who had been on contact with Hudson-Odoi were under orders to stay away from their Cobham training ground for 14 days making a face-to-face meeting with Lampard impossible.
