Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko have emerged as the new top targets in Manchester United’s striker search.
United have been in the market for a centre-forward all summer but have struggled against their rivals in the transfer market, not least when No 1 choice Liam Delap joined Chelsea instead.
Although Aston Villa maintain that Watkins is not for sale, United believe a bid of around £45million may be enough to persuade them to sell the England striker.
United are weighing up a bid for Watkins who will be 30 in December but has extensive Premier League experience – a key factor in United buying Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha this summer.
