John Terry celebrates captaincy anniversary at Chelsea

Anniversaries are big moments in relationships, usually marked by grand, sweeping gestures. John Terry is every bit as married to Chelsea as he is to his wife Toni, so it isn't all that surprising that he would choose a pretty striking way to remember the first time he ever captained the club.

Monday marks 15 years exactly since Terry first wore the Chelsea armband, two days before his 21st birthday. Injuries to Marcel Desailly and Graeme Le Saux gave the youngster an opportunity to lead and while the Blues lost 1-0 to Charlton Athletic, he retained the captaincy for the next match against Sunderland.
