Frank Lampard snubbed Ipswich as they had 'no budget' before stepping into management at Derby, reveals his uncle Harry Redknapp

Harry Redknapp has revealed that Frank Lampard turned down the advances of Ipswich as they had 'no budget'.

Lampard's uncle revealed that the now Chelsea boss was offered his first managerial role with Ipswich before he instead took over as Derby manager two years ago.

After being appointed Derby manager, Lampard led the club to the Championship play-off final last season before making the emotional return to Chelsea in the summer of 2019.

However, Lampard's managerial career could have turned out very differently if he had accepted the Ipswich job - with Redknapp admitting that he recommended the former Chelsea midfielder to the Tractor Boys' owner Marcus Evans, before doing the same with Derby.
