Former Leicester goalkeeper and captain Kasper Schmeichel signs a one-year-deal with Belgian side Anderlecht after being released on deadline day

Former Leicester City captain Kasper Schmeichel has completed a one-year-deal with Belgian Pro League side Anderlecht.

The 36-year-old was released on a free transfer by Ligue 1 side OGC Nice on transfer deadline day.

He was initially linked with a move to reunite with former Leicester manager Brendan Rogers at Celtic, who were in the market for a replacement for the struggling Joe Hart.

However, since the start of the new season Hart has seen a resurgence in form, most recently putting in a stellar performance in the Old Firm derby against Rangers.
