Former Fiorentina captain Alessandro Gamberini claims he passed up the chance to sign for Jose Mourinho's Chelsea and Inter Milan, instead signing new contract in Tuscany

Alessandro Gamberini has claimed both Chelsea and Inter Milan chased his signature, only for the centre-back to sign a new deal with Fiorentina.

The Italian played out his entire career in Serie A and Serie B, featuring for the likes of Bologna, Fiorentina and Napoli before retiring at Chievo Verona.

He made 467 career appearances but could live to regret the decision he made early in his Fiorentina career, when Blues boss Jose Mourinho came calling.
