This week, Enzo Maresca will break a record. He will officially become the longest-serving head coach under Chelsea’s BlueCo ownership.
Mauricio Pochettino lasted 325 days, Graham Potter lasted 206, Thomas Tuchel lasted 100, and then there were shorter caretaker spells from Frank Lampard and Bruno Saltor.
As of Wednesday, Maresca is on 324 and counting. While Pochettino faced a formal review after his single campaign in charge last season, there is not one planned on Maresca’s position this summer.
We are told that will remain the case even if Chelsea miss out on Champions League qualification, though as one insider says, hopefully that is a moot scenario anyhow.
