Elite referees Jon Moss and Anthony Taylor were the star turns at a gala dinner the night before being involved in yet more controversy involving officials when Stoke City manager Mark Hughes was sent to the stands during his team's 4-0 defeat by Tottenham.
Fourth official Moss reported that Hughes had ventured outside his technical area after being incensed at referee Taylor's decision-making.
Footballers would be castigated for being seen out on a Friday night yet Moss and Taylor had agreed to take part in 'An evening with Premiership referees' organised by Stockport Referees' Society at Stockport County FC on the eve of their match duties.
