Damien Duff is being considered for a surprise role on Brentford’s coaching staff as the club move closer to confirming Keith Andrews as their new manager.
Former Chelsea winger Duff had been managing Shelbourne in the League Of Ireland and had masterminded last season’s title-winning campaign but he shocked people in his country this weekend when abruptly quitting.
Duff, a disciple of Jose Mourinho who was part of the first wave of enormous success at Stamford Bridge under Roman Abramovich has seen his reputation blossom with Shelbourne and attracted plenty of interest for the dynamic way his team played and his forthright opinions.
