With both Reece James and Ben Chilwell absent the midfielder captained the Blues in their clash as they looked to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League to six games.
In a clip widely shared on social media Gallagher takes his place inside the tunnel as he prepares to lead his side out at Stamford Bridge.
Upon his arrival at the front of the line a young mascot extends out his hand attempting to shake hands with the 24-year-old.
