Chelsea plans to redevelop Stamford Bridge approved by Mayor of London

Chelsea's application to redevelop Stamford Bridge has been approved by the Mayor of London.

The state-of-the-art £500 million stadium will increase Chelsea's capacity from 41,600 to 60,000.

Chelsea's plans include committing £12m to community activities and a £3.75m contribution towards affordable housing in the borough.

The new stadium has been designed by the same architects as Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena and Beijing's Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium.
