Chelsea leave Thiago Silva at home for Champions League trip to Krasnodar as Frank Lampard decides to rest 36-year-old defender with Russian side missing eight players

Chelsea have decided not to take Thiago Silva to Krasnodar for their Champions League group game on Wednesday.

Frank Lampard has eased the centre back into first-team action since his summer arrival and the Blues boss has opted to rest the defender with the Russian side missing eight senior players.

Silva, 36, played 90 minutes against Sevilla and Manchester United, helping his side to their first two clean sheets of the season in two 0-0 draws.
