Chelsea are drawn into football's sex abuse scandal as club investigate former employee

Chelsea were drawn into football's child sex abuse scandal on Tuesday.

The club issued a statement saying they were investigating a deceased former employee — believed to be Eddie Heath, their chief scout in the 1970s.

Chelsea later refused to deny they had bought a victim's silence. This came hours after FA chairman Greg Clarke responded to reports that clubs may have paid off victims by stating he would find it 'morally repugnant that people would suppress reporting of crimes against children to protect their reputation'.
