Best goalkeepers of 2016: IFFHS reveal their top 13 shot-stoppers of the year

Usually, it’s all about strikers and midfielders when it comes to end of year awards.

The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), though, make sure the world’s leading goalkeepers are recognised just as much as other positions.

Gianluigi Buffon is a four-time winner of the award, which is voted for by experts from around the globe and IFFHS staff, while Iker Casillas claimed the honour in five straight years before Manuel Neuer dethroned him in 2013.
