'As a city we cannot afford for people to gather in large numbers': Liverpool council and police order fans not to turn up at Anfield on Wednesday to watch the league champions lift the trophy for the first time in 30 years

Mounted police will patrol Anfield on Wednesday night, while roads can be closed and dispersal notices issued should Liverpool fans gather again to celebrate their title victory.

Jurgen Klopp's men will lift the trophy in a special ceremony on the Kop following the visit of Chelsea, in a match which is free-to-air.

And, amid concerns following recent mass gatherings at the ground and in the city, police and local authorities have issued a warning to anyone thinking of heading to the club's home - with the threat of a second lockdown thanks to coronavirus 'very real' according to Liverpool's health expert.
