Antonio Conte paused and thought, laughed out loud and finally admitted he had no idea why N’Golo Kante sacrificed hero status at Leicester City and the chance to play in the Champions League to join Chelsea.
‘I don’t know,’ chuckled Conte with a shake of his head. ‘The only person who had this choice was the player. He looked at both situations and took the best choice.’
Someone suggested it might have been something he said during the transfer negotiations.
‘Yes, I hope it was my conversation,’ he added but seemed unconvinced.
