The Charlotte Hornets will receive a $1.6 million trade exception by sending shooting guard, Troy Daniels, to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of a sign-and-trade. Daniels is set to sign a three-year, $10 million deal with the Grizzlies. (The Vertical) The important part of the deal isn’t losing Daniels but creating a trade exception that could help the team later on.
The creation of that trade exception could lead the team to make a trade this season that they otherwise could not have completed. Losing Troy should not hurt the Hornets too much as they already have Nicolas Batum, Jeremy Lamb, and Marco Belinelli on their roster.
