The Charlotte Hornets have signed center Mike Tobey to a training camp deal, the team announced in a press release Monday afternoon.
Tobey, a four-year player from Virginia, played for the Hornets in the Orlando Summer League earlier this month. He averaged 10 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and one steal in 20.8 minutes per game in the tournament.
While it’s unclear if Tobey will make the Hornets roster come October, he’s a decent rebounder and strong post defender that should make training camp more competitive than it would’ve been otherwise. He also has a good (but not great) jump shot.
