Marco Belinelli, the player the Hornets traded their 22nd overall pick for, is now out with a Broken Jaw suffered while playing in an exhibition game between Canada and Italy. The 22nd pick however, was used by the Hornets to select Malachi Richardson, a high upside wing from Syracuse, with all intentions to trade away the rights for him to the Sacramento Kings.
Not only was this a young player the Hornets could have used to build around, with only Kemba Walker, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and Cody Zeller being our only young franchise players, but it would’ve also been a pick the Hornets could have used to address an issue of need, such as youth in the frontcourt.
