DURHAM, N.C. – Conference USA Championships title-holder Charlotte women's soccer saw its 2016 season come to a close Saturday afternoon, dropping a 3-0 decision to No. 14-ranked Duke in the NCAA Tournament First Round at Koskinen Stadium. The 49ers were making their fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
The Blue Devils got on the board first at 10:06 as Olivia Erlbeck and Toni Payne played short passes ahead to Ella Stevens, who weaved her way through the Niners defense before her shot at the top of the 18-yard box to the right post put the hosts ahead, 1-0.
