Women’s basketball falls in C-USA quarterfinals to LA Tech

The fifth-seeded Charlotte 49ers (21-10) couldn’t find their shot against Louisiana Tech (18-12) Thursday night in the Conference USA Quarterfinals, losing 66-55 to the fourth-seeded Lady Techsters inside Bartow Arena.

Senior guard Ciara Gregory led all scorers with 17 points, including five makes from behind the three-point line. With Gregory’s third three of the game, she became C-USA’s ingle season-leader in three-pointers made in a season. Grace Hunter added in 16 points while Nyilah Jamison-Myers chipped in with nine points and nine rebounds.

In the first quarter, Charlotte used two threes from Gregory to jump out to a 7-2 lead in the first two minutes of play, but the Lady Techters responded with a 5-0 run to tie the game up, 7-7, with 5:19 remaining in the first.
