After coming off an opening day victory against William & Mary Friday evening at Hayes Stadium, the 49ers dropped the second game of the three game series on Saturday, 5-1.
Brandon Casas got the ball for the second game of the series, struggling right out of the gate for his debut in a Charlotte uniform. Casas went 3.1 innings, surrendering five hits, plunking three batters, but holding the Tribe to only one run.
Casas saw a quick exit, bringing in the Saturday starter from last year’s team, J.D. Prochaska. Prochaska pitched three innings out of the bullpen, giving up one earned run, but managing to strike out four batters.
