Bowling Green, Ky. - WKU (4-2; 2-1 C-USA) quarterback Mike White threw for 398 yards and five TDs against a beat-up Charlotte defense that had three news faces in the starting secondary, as the Hilltoppers pulled away for a 45-14 victory Saturday at Houchens-Smith Stadium.
With injuries mounting, the 49ers (0-7; 0-3 C-USA) were without eight starters, including four on the defensive side of the ball and lost all-time leading tackler Karrington King to a knee injury early in the second quarter.
White threw for 286 yards and four TDs in the first half to lead WKU's early attack, breaking open a 21-14 game with 17 straight points to end the second quarter.
