CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Conference USA Freshman of the Week Octavia Wilson led all players with 21 points but it was not enough to carry Charlotte past Rutgers Thursday night, as the 49ers dropped a 77-54 decision inside Halton Arena in the first meeting between the two programs.

Wilson netted most of her points at the foul line, connecting on 15-of-19 at the charity stripe, as she became the first Niners individual this season to score more than 20 in a game. She has raised her point total in all three games this year on her way to a team-high tying 15.
