IRVING, Texas – Charlotte women's basketball guard Octavia Wilson has been selected as the Jan. 8 Conference USA Freshman of the Week following the first series of league games, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. It marks her second career freshman of the week nod after previously earning it after the first weekend of the regular season, Nov. 13.
Wilson becomes the second multi-time winner for the 49ers during their Conference USA stints (1996-2005; 2014-present) and the third overall, including the Atlantic 10 era (2006-13).
The Greenbelt, Maryland, product was instrumental in guiding Charlotte to a 2-0 start in conference play, as she averaged a team-high 15.
