WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest used a walk-off fielder’s choice in the bottom of the ninth to top Charlotte 6-5 on Tuesday night. T.J. Nichting and Reece Hampton led the way with two hits and two RBI on the night.
“We missed an opportunity tonight,” started Head Coach Loren Hibbs. “We had a chance to sweep a good ACC team tonight and missed the opportunity. Our actions tonight as a team were not what they’ve been in the last two, three, four games.”
Charlotte (11-10) got on the board immediately in the top of the first as Nichting lined a two-out, two-run double down the left field line to score Derek Gallello and Logan Sherer.
