MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Charlotte women's tennis received a singles win from senior Macy Vonderschmidt but the 49ers were unable to capitalize on other first-set victories in dropping a 4-1 decision at College of Charleston Saturday morning. The Niners were playing their second contest in less than 24 hours on the road, after garnering a 4-0 sweep at South Carolina State Friday afternoon.
Vonderschmidt was able to capture her triumph for Charlotte (9-6) as she handed the Cougars' Rachel McNeely a 6-4, 6-2 setback at the No. 4 slot.
The Niners battled through a pair of three-set decisions at the top-two positions, as senior Victoria Pahlett and sophomore Tai Martin claimed opening-set wins against their respective College of Charleston (9-4) adversaries before the Cougars rallied.
