GREENVILLE, N.C. – Charlotte broke open a tightly-contested game with a momentum-changing 3-pointer from midway through the third quarter and the 49ers never let the foot of the pedal the rest of the way to remain unbeaten this season with a 59-47 triumph at ECU Sunday. Second-half defense limited the Pirates to a combined 8-of-30 (26.7 percent) during the final 20 minutes.
