IRVING, TEXAS – Tom Nobles has been named the 2018 Conference USA Male Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Friday. The first time in school history a Charlotte men's cross country runner has received such award.
Nobles, a redshirt senior got the season started on the right foot by storming to the front to earn Individual Champion of the Charlotte Opener. Nobles led everyone to the stripe in the season-opening event and collected a personal-best time of 15:08.1 in the 5K.
The Cary, North Carolina, native continued to work hard throughout the year, leading the 49ers in all five races during the season, which resulted in Charlotte receiving votes in the NCAA Coaches Poll for the first time in program history.
