Charlotte, N.C.- With a strong defensive effort in the second half, the Charlotte 49ers (5-2) defeated the James Madison Dukes (0-7), 65-56, in Halton Arena. Charlotte's defense limited James Madison to 21 points and 26.7% shooting from the field and 10% shooting from beyond the three-point line in the second half.
"A good win for us, it was one of those grind-out kind of games", said Charlotte coach . "I give them credit, they kept us off balance with their zones and their three quarter court stuff just to try to slow down our pace, and we really played more to their pace in the first half and that's what got us in trouble.
