BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – (RV) Charlotte softball swept its doubleheader with Gardner-Webb on Tuesday in Boiling Springs, winning both contests in 8-0 margins. The 49ers have now recorded seven shutouts on the season, the most for the team this early into the year since 1989.
The pitching staff dominated both outings, with senior Lexi Betancourt and sophomore Haley Wiseman each fanning 11 in complete game victories. The duo combined for just seven hits (Betancourt allowed three and Wiseman four) as they picked up their ninth and sixth wins, respectively.
The Niners combined for 19 hits on the day, with several star performers.
