MIAMI – (RV) Charlotte softball suffered its first sweep of the season, falling to FIU 2-1 in Game 1 and 8-0 (5 inn.) in Game 2 at Felsburg Field at FIU Softball Stadium in Miami.
The Niners were limited to just six hits on the day; freshman Kiersten Berrier led the offense with two hits and a run.
The 49ers drop to 16-6 (0-2 C-USA), while FIU sits at 16-10 (2-0 C-USA).
GAME 1: FIU 2, CHARLOTTE 1
The Niners suffered their first one-run loss of the year, holding a narrow 1-0 lead until the Panthers plated two in the seventh to win in walk-off fashion, in a reverse déjà vu situation of Charlotte’s Conference USA Tournament clinching-win last season against FIU.
