CHARLOTTE, N.C. - It was an unusual set of results at the D.L. Phillips Softball Complex on Saturday when the Charlotte Softball team suffered a five-inning, 11-0 run rule defeat before quickly bouncing back to earn a six-inning, 9-1 run rule victory against Florida International.
With the doubleheader split, the 49ers move to 25-20 overall and 7-10 in Conference USA while FIU moves to 37-12 on the season including an 11-6 mark in conference play.
GAME ONE
Not much went right for the Niners in the first game of the day. Jackie Schoff and Ashley Leon led off the contest with back-to-back singles and stolen bases before Danni Mowry ripped a double to center field to score them both, giving FIU an early 2-0 lead.
