CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second-straight season, the Charlotte softball team won Conference USA’s Sport Academic Award having the highest GPA for the 2015-16 academic year. The 49ers earned the league’s top spot with a 3.667 team GPA.
Of the 17 sports represented, Charlotte had the third-highest GPA among all recipients. The 49ers sported a 32-win season on the field, 11-straight to open the year, all came in addition to their academic success off the field. Haley Pace and Lexi Betancourt were both named to C-USA’s All-Academic Team, CoSIDA Academic All-District squad and earned third-team All-America honors.
