Sharpstene Begins U.S. Open at Torrey Pines Thursday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte men's golfer Matt Sharpstene will embark on the first of two rounds Thursday morning playing in the USGA's 121st U.S. Open at Torrey Pines. Sharpstene, playing as an amateur, qualified for the event after winning the final qualifying event in Dallas a few weeks back. Sharpstene will be no stranger to the TV spotlight getting into the 2020 U.S. Amateur semifinals last year.

LOOKIN' SHARP IN 2021
Sharpstene played all 21 rounds this season with the Niners averaging 72.81 strokes in those seven events. The Niners newcomer finished tied for fifth at the Linger Longer Invitational in which the team ran away with the team title.
