CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Seniors figured prominently in Charlotte's walk-off victory over Southern Mississippi Sunday on senior day at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium.
With two outs and senior Haley Pace on third, senior Taylar Bryne flared an opposite field single into shallow right field for the second consecutive 5-4 victory by the Niners (18-32, 9-15 C-USA) in their final at-bat. They concluded the season with a sweep of the Golden Eagles (19-36, 8-16 C-USA), sending the seniors out in style.
The seven seniors, Bryne, Grace Beatty, Pace, Erin Powers, Bailey Rhoney, Becca and Haley Wiseman, were honored in a pre-game ceremony.
