In a game that saw separate lightning delays before the game started and again at halftime, the Charlotte 49ers (1-0) ignited for 21 unanswered points in the second half to topple Fordham (0-1), 34-10, in the season-opener for both schools.
"I thought the guys did a really good job of focusing on what they needed to take care of," said head coach Brad Lambert. "I was really proud of the way they stayed focused and maintained a good energy level."
Red-shirt freshman quarterback Chris Reynolds, making his first career start, completed 13-of-20 passes for 267 yards and one touchdown.
