CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wake Forest pulled away late and kept a pesky Charlotte squad from overcoming the deficit, as the 49ers’ women’s basketball program saw its season come to a close with a 72-69 victory Thursday night in WNIT First Round action inside Halton Arena. Charlotte entered the final five minutes tied but the Demon Deacons made plays late to decide the outcome in a contest that went back-and-forth throughout all 40 minutes.

Senior Alexis Alexander, an All-Conference USA Second Team choice, capped her collegiate career with a game-high 21 points on 10-of-16 field goals to go along with her eight rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot in 33 minutes.
