CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte freshman Rocio Safont captured her singles flight crown and paired with redshirt junior Megan Smith to earn their doubles bracket title, spotlighting the 49ers' performances during final day action at the NCCU Invitational in Durham. Junior Tai Martin also represented the program at the ITA Carolina Regional presented by Oracle in Chapel Hill, as the squad was split between the two events.
Safont, participating in just her second collegiate event, tallied a 2-0 singles mark Friday to garner the Maroon flight championship. She opened the day by topping UNCW's Rachel Marthinsen in the semifinals 6-2, 6-1, before knocking off Jamie Rogers of the host Eagles 6-0, 6-2 to extend her win streak to five-in-a-row.
