MATOSINHOS, Portugal – Charlotte rising junior Laia Raventós and her Spanish teammates are set to open play Saturday at the FIBA U20 Women's European Championship. The tournament begins Saturday in Matosinhos, Portugal, with the No. 2 world-ranked Spain squad taking on Poland in its first game at the Pavilhao Municipal de Guiföes.
Raventós is one of three point guards on the final 15-member roster under the direction of head coach José Ignacio Hernández. She also is one of eight members who have competed with various NCAA programs.
Spain enters the tournament as one of the heavy favorites, having captured six golds in its history (2007, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016) and three silvers (2009, 2010, 2014).
