NORFOLK, Va. – With the team decision hanging in the balance as Charlotte's three freshmen were left on the courts, two 49ers picked up the clinching points and the Niners advanced past Southern Miss Thursday during opening round action of the Conference USA Championships. Charlotte, the event's No. 9 seed, garnered a league tournament win for the second-straight season in the defeat of the No. 8-seed Golden Eagles.
"I am extremely proud of this team," head coach Michaela Gorman said. "Southern Miss pushed us to fight on hard on every court and we responded.
