Ober Homers but Niners Fall 11-3 Sunday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Despite a three-run first inning, the Charlotte baseball dropped its Sunday contest against Kent State, 11-3, at Hayes Stadium in Charlotte.

Freshman designated hitter Drew Ober opened the game early, belting a three-run, two-out homer over left field to give the Niners the early lead. Classmate Reese Hampton recorded his second double of the season, becoming the first Charlotte freshman to record a hit in the first 11 games of his career since at least 2000.

“That just wasn’t the way we wanted it to go,” head coach Loren Hibbs said.
