WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Charlotte volleyball scored a 25-22 opening set win, but couldn't hold on the rest of the way falling to host William & Mary 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 26-28, 21-25) on Friday night. The Niners defense once again won the blocking category in the Colonial Classic opener but couldn't find a steady rhythm on offense in the four-set loss.
Charlotte (3-4) broke an 8-8 tie in set one taking the lead for good on a kill before and got in on the action to extend the lead to 14-10. After the Tribe got it back to within two at 15-13, Shaw and Thomas threw down back-to-back kills sliding the lead back out to four.
