Niners Suffer OT Loss at Southern Miss

Hattiesburg, Miss. – Charlotte had three players score in double-figures, but the 49ers (12-9, C-USA: 6-4) suffered a 74-68 overtime loss on the road at Southern Miss (7-16, C-USA: 3-7).

Drew Edwards led the 49ers with 16 points, including connecting on the game-tying three-point field goal with three seconds left in regulation. Jordan Shepherd scored 14 points. Malik Martin rounded out the 49ers double-figure scorers with 13 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Southern Miss began the game by scoring eight of the first ten points. With Southern Miss leading 17-9 with 9:40 on the clock, the 49ers went on a 16-7 run over the next five minutes, taking a 25-24 lead when Edwards knocked down a three from the baseline.
