HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Redshirt sophomore forward Daniel Bruce netted his fifth goal of the season in the 77th minute, but the No. 5 Charlotte men's soccer team (11-3-2, 7-1 C-USA) ultimately fell, 2-1, to the New Mexico Lobos (11-6-1, 4-3-1 C-USA) in the semifinals of the Conference USA Championships.
Trailing by two late in the second half, senior defender Luke Waechter whipped a ball over the defense and into the box to senior midfielder Brandt Bronico. Bronico was dispossessed after his first touch, but he took two defenders out of the way and Bruce collected the ball, dribbled to his right and fired into the top of the net to bring the 49ers within one.
